Returning from his trip to Hanoi, Vietnam, for a summit with North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un, President Trump stopped in Anchorage, Alaska, where he visited with US troops stationed at Joint Base Elemdorf-Richardson.
“I wanted to be with you. It’s an honor to be with you,” President Trump said to troops in attendance of his surprise meeting, telling them he wanted to meet them after hearing they were “the best.”
Trump stressed soldiers’ important role, “You are a powerful warning to the world to never strike American soil,” adding, “You are a warning that everybody knows about, and nobody wants to play with.”

Landed in the great state of Alaska at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to refuel Air Force One and it was a balmy 3 degrees. @POTUS got off the plane to speak to all these brave men and women of the U.S. Military. pic.twitter.com/COTqaAs1Rb
