Ocasio-Cortez Uses Holocaust Poem To Defend Omar

New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has outraged many as she decided to use a Holocaust poem to defend Rep. Ilhan Omar.

Her comments came after President Donald Trump criticized Omar for saying the 9/11 terrorist attacks were when “some people did something.”

“Members of Congress have a duty to respond to the President’s explicit attack today,” she said in a tweet.

“@IlhanMN’s life is in danger. For our colleagues to be silent is to be complicit in the outright, dangerous targeting of a member of Congress. We must speak out,” she said.

She then said “First they came … ,” and shared an image of the words of that poem that was inspired by the Holocaust.

“First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist.

“Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist.

“Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.

“Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me,” the poem reads.

The audacity of Ocasio-Cortez to use that poem to defend a woman who is considered by many to be an anti-Semite angered many.
