US soccer star Megan Rapinoe appeared on CNN with Van Jones and defended “the squad,” calling Trump’s attacks on the progressive congresswomen “disgusting.”
In addition, Rapinoe explained why she believes it’s time for a female president.

Soccer star Megan Rapinoe said “maybe it’s time” for the U.S. to elect a woman as president, but ruled out any potential run for office of her own.
“Maybe it’s time for us as a country to just embrace a woman,” she told CNN, adding that many qualified women have been “overlooked.” “Let’s just see what happens.”
The FIFA Women’s World Cup champion said she has her eye on Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris in the 2020 Democratic primary.
Rapinoe said Warren is “just so smart and like, organized. Like, her thoughts are, like, organized. She has this clear message and she’s powerful.”
“I would never want to get into an argument with Kamala Harris,” she said.
Rapinoe also closed the door on her own run for office as some questioned whether she had a future in politics after she went head to head with President Trump over a visit to the White House.
“No. I’m not going to run,” she said. “I’m, like, wildly unqualified to be running for office.”
